mri showing spinal stenosis in the neck

The image on the left shows a patient that has a very narrow section in their spinal canal. This condition has pinched the spinal cord and damaged it, permanently. The patient had problems using his arms and legs because of the pressure on the spinal cord.

The image on the right shows that the surgeon has operated on the neck to expand the spinal canal. The spinal cord still looks damaged and white in places. The patients symptoms recovered well but not completely
